Games From The Grave - The Midnight Game
Seemingly dating back to 2010, The Midnight Game claims to be an old Pagan ritual set to punish those who disobeyed the Gods.
To play, you need:
At least one player
A candle
A lighter or matches
A piece of paper
Something to write with
A sterilised pin
A closed wooden door
Salt
You must begin the game prior to midnight, by writing down your full name on a piece of paper. You must then prick your finger with the pin and drop the blood onto the paper, letting it soak in.
Turn off every light inside your home and place the piece of paper in front of the closed wooden door. Then, light your candle and place it on top of the paper.
Knock on the door 22 times, with the final knock coinciding with the stroke of midnight. Open the door, blow out the candle, close the door and immediately relight your candle.
The game has begun.
Keep the candle in your hand and begin to move around your home, making sure to keep the lighter/matches and the salt nearby. Should your candle blow out, you have ten seconds to relight it. If you manage this, continue to walk around your home until 3:33am and do not stop. If you do not manage to relight the candle in time, immediately surround yourself in a circle of salt and do not move until 3:33am. When this time comes, the game is over and you are free to turn on the lights and stop moving/leave your salt circle.
The supposed point of the game is to invite an entity known as The Midnight Man into your home. Your goal is to avoid meeting him, though what happens if you do is subject to debate. Some claim that he will show you hallucinations of your worst fear until the game ends, while others claim that he removes your organs one by one.
You can tell when The Midnight Man is near from a few different indicators, including:
A sudden drop in temperature
The sound of a soft whisper with no discernible source
The appearance of a human figure in the dark
The candle going out
In the case of any of the first three experiences, it is advised that you leave the area as quickly as you can.
There is no known way to abort the game once it has begun.
